The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced a product recall of various Jaguar Land Rover products that were produced between the 2024 and 2027 model years.
According to the NCC, the recall involves Jaguar F-Pace as well as Land Rover Discovery and Defender models, and Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Velar vehicles.
The affected models are fitted with the AJ-20-D6 engine, which is the firm’s 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel unit, offered in various states of tune with D250, D300 and D350 designations.
According to Jaguar Land Rover, in affected engines the front-end auxiliary drive’s belt idler pulley might over-rotate following a high-torsion input. This could cause the pulley to clash with and damage the engine oil pressure and temperature sensor. This could, in turn, lead to an engine oil leak, potentially creating hazards for other road users, particularly those on motorcycles.
Jaguar F-PACE: March 2024 to January 2025 LR Defender: March 2024 to April 2026 LR Discovery: March 2024 to April 2026 Range Rover: March 2024 to June 2024 Range Rover Sport: March 2024 to June 2024 Range Rover Velar: March 2024 to April 2026
The NCC has advised customers with potentially affected vehicles to visit their nearest Jaguar Land Rover dealer for an inspection. The idler pulley will then be replaced free of charge.
This latest campaign follows another very limited recall that was announced in late June, whereby a quantity of just three Land Rover Defender and Discovery vehicles, sold between January 20 and January 30, 2026, are being recalled due to a potential fuel tank fault.
JLR says in this very limited instance, the fuel tank wall thickness may be below design specification near the inlet check valve. This could compromise the tank’s performance in a crash, potentially increasing the risk of fuel spillage and the possibility of a fire.
Affected customers will have their fuel tanks replaced at no cost, JLR said.
