Growing up, broccoli didn’t top my list of favourite vegetables, but with time, I have gotten to understand the green vegetable.
Broccoli is a branched, green vegetable with green flower buds. It belongs to the Brassica family, along with cauliflower, cabbage, and kale, and can be eaten raw or cooked.
Broccoli is packed with vitamins C, K, and B9, alongside essential minerals such as calcium and potassium. It further boasts potent antioxidants like sulforaphane, known to potentially lower oxidative stress and inflammation.
Studies indicate that incorporating broccoli into your diet might bolster cardiac wellness through better cholesterol management, assist with blood sugar regulation for diabetics, and enhance immunity thanks to its rich vitamin C levels.
Here is a broccoli salad recipe that can be added to your next braai or feast that will be certain to be a hit with family and friends.
This recipe requires about 40 minutes for preparation, due to the chopping involved, but once that is out of the way, the salad is complete.
Broccoli one packet
Red pepper one
