The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Western Cape has expressed its support for the advancements made by the Department of Health and Wellness in the enhancement of healthcare services with the unveiling of new and upgraded facilities in Ravensmead and Bothasig.
With a combined budget exceeding R128 million, these projects underscore the province's determination to deliver high-quality healthcare while navigating the challenges posed by budgetary constraints.
The DA’s Memory Booysen, member of the provincial legislature and spokesperson on Health and Wellness said these facilities are not merely a response to current healthcare demands, but are a strategic investment in the health of the community that reflects a commitment to doing more with less.
“Prioritising essential services, the Western Cape is also laying the groundwork for future enhancements, particularly in areas such as oral health and radiography.
“The new Ravensmead Community Day Centre (CDC) promises a comprehensive range of services, while the upgraded Bothasig CDC is poised to significantly improve healthcare access. Both centres will feature eco-friendly designs, expanded emergency care services, chronic disease management, and patient-centred approaches that prioritise comfort and dignity for all users.”
The DA has praised the collaborative efforts involved in these projects, highlighting the vital roles played by the Department of Health and Wellness, clinic committees, healthcare staff, and community members. Such cooperation has been pivotal in shaping facilities that are tailored to the needs of the residents they serve, marking a profound step towards a healthier future.
As these construction projects near completion, the DA anticipates substantial improvements in healthcare access and outcomes for the people of Ravensmead and Bothasig. The initiatives signify the Western Cape's unwavering commitment to providing equitable, quality healthcare to all residents, reinforcing the notion that accessible healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege.
