The 51-year-old accused of raping a 9-year-old girl from Hanover Park, was released on parole in October 2024. The man appeared in a packed Wynberg magistrates court this morning on charges of abduction, human trafficking, rape and sexual assault.
It was also confirmed that the man was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in 2005 for the rape of a 10-year-old girl. The court heard that on the day the victim went missing, she was called by the accused to buy a milk.
She was on her way to the Madrassa. When she returned with the milk, the accused instructed her to put it on the kitchen table, and proceeded to lock the door. He then fed her a sandwich which made her drowsy and she fell asleep, she was then allegedly raped.
After checking neighbours cctv footage , it showed the girl entering the house of the accused and not coming out. When SAPS searched the house they found her in the back yard, curled up.
Inside of court the accused told the magistrate that he was assaulted at the police station. the girl's grandmother said those words upset her.
"You hurt a child, then you come here and complain about being assaulted. You changed that child's life forever, you deserve to be tortured."
The girl's 30-year-old mom said her bubbly child has since became withdrawn and goes into a state where she "sits like a zombie and zones out".
The case was postponed to next week Friday, 23 May for legal representative.
