In a move that has captivated pet lovers and travellers alike, the Biguiyuan Phoenix Hotel in Wuhan, Hubei province, has launched a novel 'pet sleep-accompanying' service.

Since its inception in July, this unique offering promises to enhance the hotel experience by allowing guests to share their stay with a friendly dog for just 499 yuan (R1 220).

With an array of adorable canine companions available, the hotel taps into a growing trend that acknowledges the emotional benefits of pet companionship while travelling.

The service lets guests select from ten dogs, featuring popular and friendly breeds such as Golden Retrievers, Huskies, and West Highland White Terriers.

Each canine companion is either raised by the hotel or sourced from professional trainers and certified to be vaccinated and health-checked.

Upon booking, guests must sign an agreement to ensure safety and responsibility during their furry encounter.

While the idea of staying with a dog is immensely appealing, guests are advised that the hotel assumes full liability for any harm caused to them by the pets, excluding instances of gross negligence on their part.

The hotel's management has reported that over 80 guests have utilised the service so far, and they boast that there have been no complaints, highlighting a successful integration of pets into their hospitality offerings.

In contrast to the potential risks, the hotel's proactive approach includes a strict policy against any damage or harm to the dogs - a move that ensures both their well-being and the security of the guests.

Any individual found treating the animals poorly would face a permanent ban from the hotel, reinforcing the establishment’s commitment to responsible pet hosting.

The family-friendly initiative received a warm reception online, with netizens expressing their excitement.

Commenting on the service, one X user quipped, “Finally, a hotel where I’ll actually request a late checkout."

Another, @NikPro98, mused about the appeal of cuddling several Corgis at once and said, "I'd rent a pack of Corgis in a heartbeat. Imagine the cuddle puddle potential!”

@chiefflips said, “This is actually such a smart way to bring more guests to their establishment.”

The concept has resonated well with a public eager for moments of warmth and joy, especially for those unable to have pets in their own homes.

As travelling begins to evolve post-pandemic, the Biguiyuan Phoenix Hotel's innovative service meets a significant demand for companionship, allowing guests to experience the joys of pet ownership, if only for a short while.
