Johannesburg - In this day and age, layout, flow and design elements in hotels cannot be overlooked. This is a notion that the team at Radisson Blu Gautrain hotel is fully aware of.
Thanks to a constant influx of guests and high occupancy rates, the team realised that it was the perfect time for them to conduct renovations to some areas of the hotel.
In August last year, they began the process to renovate the hotel lobby, restaurant and bar area, creating a seamless flow, more spaciousness and adding in design elements that set them apart from other establishments. Source Interior Brand Architects were appointed to recreate the spaces with Radisson’s Alice Jensen and Mark Wernich overseeing the project. This month, all the final touches were added and the refurbishment is complete.
Central One, the hotel’s main restaurant, which offers guests everything from light snacks to fine dining, was the first space to see change. Central One restaurant now incorporates an elegant lounge area for guests to relax in with a coffee or an aperitif, before or after a meal. It’s also a great space to meet friends for a few drinks or to catch up on emails, while doing a spot of people watching.
The changes to the original design not only accommodate more visitors, but also improve the layout of the restaurant and offer a more spacious area for guests to dine as they please – whether in the lounge or at a table.
The Central One bar also had a major overhaul and was relocated to the far left of the hotel, allowing guests easy access to the terrace and the pool deck, offering the best of indoor and outdoor entertaining.
The bar area is a great spot to recover after a busy day in bustling Johannesburg. Bar staff are ready and waiting to mix the perfect cocktail or brew a superb cup of coffee, while you relax and gaze out the floor-to-ceiling windows, taking in the exquisite views of the Sandton cityscape.
Thanks to two large flat-screen televisions, you’re also able to watch any big sports matches or catch up on the day’s news headlines.
Having the restaurant, bar and pool deck all centrally located on the third floor creates a much better flow and ease of access for visitors.
A fourth check-in desk was also added to assist with the increased number of guests. And the previously all-white lobby received a lively update. Quirky touches like graphic feature walls and honeycomb-shaped space-dividers add an energetic and trendy feel to the area. Colourful, printed rugs and roomy leather loungers ensure comfort and the perfect space to relax and regroup.
Whether visiting Johannesburg for business or pleasure – or even a short stopover, Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel offers everything travellers need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in the City of Gold.
