FlySafair says all technical issues affecting its check-in systems have been resolved.

Yesterday, Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) announced that a global technical issue was affecting the check-in systems of FlySafair and LIFT Airlines, leading to significant delays and long queues at check-in counters.

An unspecified “global systems issue” was cited as the reason for check-in problems affecting FlySafair and LIFT airlines in South Africa.

Technicians worked throughout the weekend on the issue that caused the massive flight delays.

FlySafair's Chief Marketing Officer, Kirby Gordon, says the airline is investigating the cause of the systems glitch.

"Thanks to the support of our dedicated teams, 98% of flights yesterday (Sunday) departed on time, and systems were ultimately restored last night by 10 pm. So, all operations are normal from today (Monday) onwards."

Yesterday, Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) urged passengers using Flysafair and Lift airlines to arrive earlier than usual for their flights due to ongoing technical issues.

Passengers were stuck in long queues since the problem was reported over the weekend.

Travellers were advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours earlier for regional flights and two hours earlier for domestic flights.
