There will be a planned temporary shutdown of the Northern Aqueduct, supplied from the uMngeni-uThukela Water Durban Heights Water Treatment Works, will be undertaken to facilitate repairs to the 800 mm steel pipeline at Hippo Park Avenue (Point E).
The planned shutdown will commence at 1am on Tuesday, July 14, and is expected to be completed by 1am on Wednesday, July 15.
The Northern Aqueduct will be isolated to enable the repairs to be carried out safely.
Upon completion of the work, the system will be inspected, pressure tested and gradually recommissioned before normal operations resume.
Water supply will be restored progressively as reservoirs refill and the distribution network returns to normal operating conditions.
The following reservoirs and areas will be affected:
Phoenix System
Phoenix 1 Reservoir: Mount Edgecombe Hospital, Mount Edgecombe Estate, Broadlands, Southgate, Stonebridge, Clayfield, Campbellstown and Greenbury.
* Phoenix 2 Reservoir: Sunford, Hannaford, Phoenix Highway, Longcroft, Longbury, Plaza, Southbury, Eastbury, Grove End, Sastri Park, Caneside, Canehaven and Woodview.
* Phoenix 3 Reservoir: Redfern, Phoenix Industrial Park, Fernham, Whetstone and Bridge City.
* Phoenix 4 Reservoir: Westham, Trenance Manor, Gandhi Settlement, Lenham, Fernham, Brookdale, Whetstone, Bhambayi, Amaoti and Sunford.
* Phoenix 5 Reservoir: Woodview, Cornubia, Ottawa, Palmview and Trenance Park.
* Phoenix 6 Reservoir: Mount Moriah and Corobrik.
