Three men have been shot and killed in separate incidents across Durban in the past week, prompting police investigations into the motives behind these violent acts.
Denver Moodley was shot while exiting his home driveway in the Padfield Park area in Pinetown on Wednesday morning.
Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza, said Pinetown police were investigating a case of murder.
“A man in his forties was allegedly shot multiple times by two unknown suspects. It is reported that the suspects waited for the victim to exit his driveway and opened fire on him before fleeing from the scene. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.”
Magwaza said the motive for the killing forms part of police investigations.
Moodley’s funeral will be held on Saturday.

In a separate incident, a man was shot and killed on Lotus Road in Springtown on Thursday.
Garrith Jamieson, the spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Medical Services, said paramedics arrived on the scene to find the South African Police Service (SAPS) already in attendance.
“Paramedics were shown to a male believed to be in his fifties who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was assessed; however, he showed no signs of life and was declared deceased on the scene.”

Last Friday, another man was shot and killed on the corner of Ashfield and Willowfield roads in Springfield.
Jamieson said: “Paramedics who arrived at the scene were shown to a man believed to be in his thirties lying on the roadside. Paramedics assessed the man and found he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and unfortunately passed away before paramedics arrived.”
Magwaza said police were investigating cases of murder.
