South African musician Tebogo G Mashego has been the subject of swirling speculation after a video capturing a police incident featuring the artist went viral on social media.
Contrary to reports that have circulated online, the musician has not been arrested. The saga began when popular blogger Musa Khawula shared the video on his X account, igniting a wave of controversy and concern among fans and followers alike.
In the video, Mashego can be seen being forcefully escorted into a police van. His visible discomfort and reluctance to enter the vehicle have raised eyebrows, prompting questions about the circumstances surrounding the event.
While initial impressions suggested a direct arrest, these were soon contradicted by clarifications from Mashego himself.
According to a post from Crime Watch SA, the members of Laudium SAPS were summoned to the scene because Mashego had displayed what was described as "abnormal behaviour." Witnesses reported that he had allegedly acted violently, assaulting individuals without apparent cause
Mashego was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation, and one of the assaulted victims has opened a common assault case. Police investigations are underway.
The 23-year-old Amapiano musician has been a trending hot topic on social media thanks to his tearful live videos stemming from his trip to Nigeria.
In a series of emotional videos, a visibly distressed Tebogo expressed regret about his decision to go to Nigeria. He accused his team of mistreatment and claimed that many people owed him money for performances he had already completed.
In one video, Mashego appealed for donations to cover the cost of a flight ticket, revealing that his team had abandoned him and refused to pay him.
“Life is difficult. I told them that I didn't want to go to Nigeria. Please help me return home,” he pleaded.
The young musician finally made it back to South Africa thanks to the assistance of DJ Karri.
