THE Meyiwa family say they are confident that the truth will come out of how former Pirates goalkeeper and Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa died.
Senzo was shot while at the home of his girlfriend and singer Kelly Khumalo in Vosloorus, Gauteng, in 2014.
Five men - Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Nkani Ntuli - are currently on trial.
Meyiwa’s brother Sifiso said they believed the truth would finally be revealed as the State was failing to place the five accused at the crime scene.
He said Senzo’s eldest daughter did not follow the trial because it upset her.
“We don’t even talk about this case with her because she is upset about what is happening,” Sifiso said.
He said his sisters who were in Gauteng attended the hearing from time to time but his mother had not gone to court.
Sifiso said he was looking forward to the lead investigator, Brigadier Bongani Gininda’s, testimony. Once they cross-examined him it would be clear as daylight that law enforcement’s version was a lie.
“I can't wait for the defence to put him on the stand. Then everything will be revealed,” said Sifiso.
Meanwhile, Longwe Thwala, who was allegedly in the house when Senzo was shot, was this week arrested with his brother Sello jr for stealing expensive equipment belonging to their music producer father, Chico Thwala.
He said that Longwe was with Sello jr when they stole his equipment while he was in the US.
“Yes, I can confirm that both my sons were arrested on Sunday. My other son Longwe was not living with us.”
He said he learnt about this because of the in-house security and the house helper who saw Longwe running away with the boxes. He said it appeared that his son had been doing this for some time.
Thwala said while Longwe may be a thief, he had “never carried a gun”.
“If someone said my son has stolen from them I’d accept it but someone who says Longwe has shot someone I’d disagree with. He is not that type of a person,” he said.
