Cape Town musician Jeremy Loops has unveiled his latest album, “Feathers and Stone”.

Released on Friday, January 31, the album follows years of introspection and crafting. It also encapsulates the essence of being human in a time of overwhelming noise and transformation.

“‘Feathers and Stone’ has been years in the making and it feels like life has found its way into every crack of these songs, Loops said.

“It’s a journey, a balancing act between heaviness and lightness, the weight of the world and those rare moments that let you breathe,” he added.

At its core, “Feathers and Stone” celebrates the beauty inherent in imperfection.

“These songs are built on the raw, real stuff, live instruments, human hands, human hearts. There’s magic in the flaws, in the wobble of a string, the crack of a voice, the rhythm that’s not quite perfect. That’s where the truth lies,” he explains, referencing two songs “Deep Cuts” and “No Thanks, Not Today”.

“‘Deep Cuts’ is a powerful meditation on resilience and the emotional toll of life’s burdens and ‘No Thanks, Not Today’ is a subtle yet bold defiance against the incessant pressures of contemporary existence.“

Meanwhile the album’s lead single, “Wolves”, captures the spirit of adventure and courage.

“At its core, ‘Wolves’ is a hymn to the wild within us, an ode to the untamed currents of life. Its haunting yet uplifting melodies invite listeners to embrace uncertainty and chase their dreams.”

Prior to the album launch, Loops treated fans with a selection of singles including, “Dust Over Dunes”, “Go Again”, “Loveblood” featuring Amistat and the touching collaboration “Coming Home” with the iconic Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Each release gracefully paved the way for the album while unveiling new songs like “Future Focus”, “Beautiful” and “Birds Eye View”.

Crafted within the intimacy of Loops's home studio in Cape Town, an intentional return to his roots, Loops describes this album as a homecoming, one that invites listeners to reconnect with simpler times.

“Growing up in a place of wild contrasts, immense challenges and unparalleled beauty has shaped my music and perspective.

“These songs are meant to take you back to a simpler time. Kick your shoes off, feel the earth beneath your feet and let the music remind you of what it means to feel human.”

As he steps into the next chapter, Loops is all set to embark on his “Feathers and Stone” Europe tour on Friday, February 7.

“‘Feathers and Stone’ feels like coming full circle, rooted in the sounds that started it all but it is woven with the thread of so many new memories from the years in between. And the best part? We’re taking this album straight to the stage. Europe tour ... I can’t wait to bring these songs to life with you. It’s almost time, friends. Let’s set this thing in motion,” he wrote on Instagram.

With more than 400 million streams and extensive tours across Europe, Loops is one of South Africa’s most successful musical exports.
