Nasreddine Nabi is in the middle of his first season at Kaizer Chiefs, but according to reports, the Tunisian tactician could be headed towards the exit at Naturena.

It’s not due to his performance as Amakhosi boss, but rather, his name has reportedly popped up on the shortlist as his country of birth look to fill their head coach position following the sudden sacking of Faouzi Benzarti last October.

The addition of Nabi’s name to the shortlist came after Tunisia’s federation failed in their pursuit to lure Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos to North Africa.

However, Chiefs fans need not worry too much about the reports linking their head coach with the Tunisian job as RS Berkane boss Mouin Chaabani is seen as the front-runner to be appointed.

However, should Chaabani not be interested in taking charge of the Eagles of Carthage, Nabi could be the next man they approach.

Nabi signed a two-year contract when he joined the Soweto giants at the beginning of the season so any attempts by the Tunisian federation to lure him back to the country will require a huge buy-out fee.

At Naturena, Nabi has been going about his way of turning the mighty Amakhosi into title contenders again. A brilliant start to the current season was followed by a difficult period, but results have started to improve again.

On Saturday, all eyes will be on Nabi and his team as they take on Betway Premiership title contenders Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium. In his first derby, Nabi will be targeting all three points from the encounter.
