Tshwane giants Mamelodi Sundowns have sacked Mangqoba Mngqithi and appointed Portuguese tactician Miguel Cardoso as their new head coach.
Steve Komphela and Kennedy Mweene will remain and form part of Cardoso technical team.
Mngqithi took over the role of head coach at the Brazilians following the shocking dismissal of Rulani Mokwena, who had guided the club to consecutive Betway Premiership titles.
However, under his leadership the Brazilians have struggled to replicate the dominance that saw them nearly go unbeaten in the league last season.
The club confirmed the news in a press briefing held at the club's headquarters in Chloorkop on Tuesday.

"Mamelodi Sundowns board and management have decided to implement a restructuring and a change in the coaching department and this was based on the need for us to redirect and re-energise and to make sure that our club can achieve the targets and the milestones that we have set for our selves.
"This was by no means an easy decision coach Manqoba Mngqithi and coach Wendell Robinson were coaches that have been with the club for over two decades" club chairman Thlopie Motsepe said.
On the appointment of Cardoso as the club's new head coach Motsepe said they were confident that he was the man to take the club forward.
"He is a man who we believe has the right type of personality to lead a club like Mamelodi Sundowns football club, he has the ability, and he has the desire to take to the highest levels to succeed as a football club,"
Cardoso is an experienced coach who most recently served as the head coach of Tunisian side Esperance Sportive de Tunis, where he won the Tunisian league title and led the club to the CAF Champions League final.
