AmaZulu striker Elmo Kambindu says they’ve been working hard to ensure that they beat Chippa United in their Betway Premiership clash this afternoon.

Usuthu will visit Chippa at Buffalo City Municipality Stadium on the back of back-to-back losses against Stellenbosch and Mamelodi Sundowns.

They need to win the match at all costs to keep up in the Top 3 race as they are seventh on the log with 30 points, five-behind the third-placed Stellenbosch.

Coach Arthur Zwane’s had most of his troops at his disposal during the recently-concluded FIFA international break as they prepared for the final stretch of the season.

Kambindu was also away with his national team, Namibia, for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in which they bagged four points out of a possible six.

The 31-year-old attacker is happy to be back in the AmaZulu fold, saying his teammates have been putting out all stops to ensure that they are ready for the Chilli Boys.

“The guys have been working hard ahead of the game against Chippa,” Kambindu told the club’s media unit after returning from international duty.

Kambindu is no stranger to the Chippa players - he was part and parcel of their set-up earlier this season before joining Usuthu for the second half of the campaign.

He admits that his former teammates will try to exploit his weakness and stop him in his tracks, but that won’t stop him from doing what he does best.

“Since I have joined the club, there’ve been a lot of changes to my game. We’ve been scoring now and then,” Kambindu said.

“They know my game since they are my previous employers. Most of the guys there know me, and the type of game I play.

“But that won’t stop me from what I have been doing - I am just going to go there, and work hard, and do what I always do: score the goals and win the game tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, Stellenbosch will be eager to consolidate their third-placed position when they visit Magesi in a league clash at Seshego Stadium late this afternoon.

Stellies have had a busy season as they are - for their first time in their history - juggling between domestic and continental football.

They are in the quarter-final of the CAF Confederation Cup in which they’ll face defending champions Zamalek in the first leg next week before the return leg in Cairo.

Winning against Magesi will not only give them advantage heading into that clash, but it would boost their Top 3 aspirations in the league as well.

Barker knows that their bread is buttered in the league. Hence, it’s paramount that they do well with every passing.

Their clash against Magesi will not be easy though. Owen Da Gama’s men are also eyeing to steer themselves clear off the foot of the standings and climb up the log.
