As the award-winning series Adulting prepares to conclude its third season, the spotlight has notably shifted towards the formidable female characters whose powerful performances have captivated viewers.

Some of the leading women delve into the highlights of their roles and experiences throughout this remarkable season.

In a season marked by emotional turmoil and complex relationships, viewers have also witnessed the character transformations of the women as they challenge their male counterparts and reveal their inner strength.

Londeka Sishi, who stars as Nkanyezi, has her character firmly standing her ground against her husband's hopes for children.

Sishi explains that Nkanyezi is resolute about not wanting a baby, which creates tension in their relationship.

“I think she makes an effort to really let her walls down. She has fallen in love with Bonga but still has quite a few triggers. We get to see her fight throughout the season.”

The season also zooms into Mpho’s entanglements with his ex-wife Zithulele, played by Lungile Duma who has also noted a significant evolution in her character from the last season. “Zithulele was the nice wife, easy-going and forgiving. This season, she’s become bitter and relentless in Mpho's life. It showcases how love can alter one's essence, and for Zithu, she's at her worst,” Duma reflects.

Meanwhile, the emotional weight of relationships heightens in Eric’s story arc, where his girlfriend Mampho pushes him to confront his feelings for Minkie, a role portrayed by Samkelo Ndlovu.

Gaisang K. Noge, who plays Mampho, believes the women are the driving force of the season: “I realised while reading the script that the ladies are the fire behind everything these men are going through, whether good or bad. They’re the ignition to the heat these guys are feeling,” asserts Noge, shedding light on the compelling influence women have this season.

Mapaseka Koetle who plays the role of Naledi delves into her character and says, “She’s a mom, and she becomes Mpho’s love interest, which is going to be very interesting because Mpho has a lot of problems,” Koetle teases, hinting at the fresh dynamics Naledi will bring. “I think people will get to see a different side of Mpho because of Naledi,” she adds.

Koetle, known for her long-running role in Scandal!, expresses her excitement and nervousness about joining Adulting. “When I got the call, I was so excited but also nervous. I’ve played Dintle for so long, and I wondered how people would receive me in a different role. But more than anything, I was up for the challenge. It was on my wish list, and I had to tick that off. Hopefully, this is just the beginning.”

This season's compelling storylines not only entertain but also highlight the societal struggles and evolving roles of women in contemporary relationships.
