The father of Kaden Moodley, the Glenwood High grade 10 pupil who collapsed and died during his warm up for a hockey match, said the death of a son was any parent's worst nightmare.
The dad, Thevan Moodley, said Kaden's twin brother, Kellen, was devastated by the loss, and he shared how the deceased had a deep love for sport.
The father of the Glenwood High School pupil who died on the sports field on Tuesday afternoon said no parent should have to go through this.
Kaden Moodley, 15, a grade 10 pupil collapsed and died before a hockey match.
Speaking to IOL, Thevan said that they were devastated following his son's untimely death.
Moodley said he and his wife received news that their son was not well and rushed to the school.
He said when they arrived first responders had been resuscitating Kaden.
"They tried for over 30 minutes, but unfortunately nothing could be done."
He said that he heard Kaden had been warming up by kicking a ball and then told his team they needed a substitute for the hockey game before collapsing.
Moodley said the twin boys were his youngest.
"We have two older girls. We are a very close-knit family."
Moodley said they were awaiting the post-mortem results for Kaden. The family is hopeful to have his funeral on Friday.
