Curro Holdings initiates compliance audit for foreign national learners' immigration status.

Private education group Curro Holdings has asked parents and guardians of learners who are foreign nationals to submit documentation confirming their immigration status, as part of what it describes as a compliance exercise across its schools.
In a notice sent to families, the school group said the request forms part of a “Termly Foreign Learner Compliance Audit” aimed at ensuring records remain up to date and aligned with Department of Home Affairs requirements.
“As part of our Termly Foreign Learner Compliance Audit, we kindly request all parents and guardians of foreign national learners to submit their learner's latest valid immigration documentation to the school,” the school said.
The group said the process is intended to ensure regulatory compliance and accurate record-keeping for all foreign learners enrolled at its institutions.
“To ensure our records remain up to date and compliant with Department of Home Affairs requirements, please provide one of the following, where applicable,” the notice states, listing required documents including study visas, asylum seeker permits, refugee permits, proof of permanent residence, and proof of diplomatic appointment.
The request has been issued amid an ongoing national debate over immigration enforcement and documentation checks in South Africa, with increasing scrutiny on how institutions verify the legal status of foreign nationals accessing education and other services.
While Curro has not suggested that non-compliant learners will be immediately removed, such audits are commonly used by schools to verify eligibility for continued enrolment and to ensure compliance with national regulations.
Curro Holdings operates a large network of private schools across the country, serving thousands of learners in its independent education system.
