Buying an armoured vehicle in South Africa no longer necessitates sneaking into a warehouse at an ungodly hour with a briefcase full of cash.
Jokes aside, armoured vehicles are becoming more mainstream and easier to finance, as an increase in crimes such as hijacking, kidnapping, and assassinations lead South Africans to seek more protection on the streets.
One of the most affordable complete armoured vehicle solutions in South Africa is the B4 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max offered by Joburg-based Armoured mobility, and it is now more accessible thanks to a new finance package.
The B4-armoured Chery is priced at R1,299,900, and those opting for the finance will pay R18,999 per month, over 72 months at 10.75% prime. It does require a deposit of R300,000 however.

Armoured Mobility’s Nabeel Khan said the company’s goal is to make high-level personal protection more attainable for individuals and families.
“Historically, purchasing an armoured vehicle has required full upfront payment, making it a significant financial commitment that was often out of reach for many. Armoured Mobility has now established strategic partnerships with major South African financial institutions to introduce a more flexible financing model,” Khan said.
First introduced in 2023, but now available in facelifted form, the Armoured Mobility Tiggo 8 Pro Max has full OEM approval by Chery Auto South Africa.
B4 armour protects primarily against handguns and shotguns that are used in hijacking and everyday criminal activities. B4 packages are lighter and less expensive than the more comprehensive B6 armour, the latter offering protection against assault rifles and aimed at individuals facing more serious and direct threats.
B4 armouring includes thickened glass for windows and sunroofs, as well as reinforced doors and other elements. In the case of the Chery Tiggo 8, Armoured Mobility’s package adds just 140kg of weight to the vehicle.
