As a nation, we really do love our boerewors and serve it in so many ways.
It can be as simple as a boerie roll topped with braised onions or enjoyed with pap and chakalaka.
Some people even make a curry with it, while others serve it with tomato smoor and mash. And of course, no braai is complete without it!

While it can be a bit on the pricey side these days, boerewors is still one of those meats that’s always on stand-by in freezers.
Despite its popularity and versatility, people keep finding new ways to enjoy it.
But when one TikToker shared her unique boerewors dish, most South Africans were left completely stumped.
Casey, an AMC consultant, often shares recipes she cooks up in her AMC pots to show just how great they are for everyday meals.
This particular recipe demo, however, went viral, racking up over 260,000 views and nearly 15,000 likes.
She starts off by browning the wors, proudly pointing out that she didn’t need any oil or water to do so.
She first browned the wors.

Once it was nicely browned, she removed it from the pot, and this is where the dish took an unexpected turn.
Casey poured a can of sliced peaches, syrup and all, into the pot, along with tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce.
She then returned the browned wors to the pot and let it cook together with the peaches before serving it with a side of pap.
Since canned peaches are usually served as dessert, using them in a savoury dish left many viewers puzzled.
In her caption, Casey described the meal as something she would make “just before payday” and called it the “perfect soet sour kombnasie.”
While it’s clearly a favourite in her home, many South Africans couldn’t quite process the combination.
“First in my ancestral lineage to witness this,” one person commented, while another admitted, “I’m so baffled.”
Another TikToker asked what inspired the dish, saying, “I’m legit curious.”
Casey replied: “Lack of funds growing up. This was that ‘end of what’s in the cupboards meal’ but it’s stuck around in our family circulation because it was nicer than any of us thought it would be!”
Another viewer wondered if pregnancy cravings were to blame and asked: “How many months pregnant are you?”
Casey quickly clarified that she wasn’t pregnant, but revealed that some expectant moms have actually thanked her for helping them discover their new craving.
Even with all her explanations, many people still couldn’t wrap their heads around this sweet-and-savoury combo.
