In a city that constantly sets the pace for culinary creativity, Cape Town’s latest food trend is as indulgent as it is innovative.

Bespoke food experiences are having a serious moment—first came cereal bars, then tasting menus tailored for every niche craving. Now, the Cape Town welcomes its newest obsession: the dessert bar.

Leading the charge is the stylish Botany Café at The President Hotel in Bantry Bay, which has reimagined its trendy daytime eatery into a sleek, sugar-dusted sanctuary for night-time indulgence.

From 6pm to 10pm each evening, the café swaps out its salads and smoothies for a mouthwatering rotation of gourmet sweets and handcrafted treats.

Think luxurious gateaux, delicate verrines, rich brownies, and dainty macarons, all beautifully curated to satisfy even the most discerning dessert devotee.

Prices start at just R20, proving that indulgence doesn’t have to come at a high cost.

At the heart of this new offering is an inspired twist on a Middle Eastern classic—the pistachio kunafa chocolate.

Created by Head Pastry Chef Amber-Leigh Janse van Rensburg, this house-made confection comes in both milk and dark chocolate, delivering a rich, crunchy fusion of textures and flavours.

And if you prefer your treats small but mighty, the pistachio bonbons are the perfect bite-sized explosion of nuttiness and sweetness.

With the lights dimmed and the scent of artisan coffee in the air, Botany Café’s transformation into a dessert bar is more than a menu change—it’s a shift in how Capetonians end their evenings.

It's proof that in this food-forward city, dessert is no longer an afterthought but an experience in its own right.

Bookings are essential for this sugary soirée and can be made via WhatsApp on 071 368 9529
