kykNET’s fliekNET pop-up channel is making its grand return this festive season. Known for its selection of Afrikaans feature films, short films and documentaries, fliekNET has become a staple for movie lovers during the holidays.

Since launching in 2014, the channel has been a celebration of Afrikaans storytelling, offering everything from nostalgic classics to award-winning contemporary gems.

Over the years, fliekNET has treated viewers to films that have become firm favourites among families.

Think of “As Jy Sing”, a feel-good musical comedy that lifts the spirits, or “Pad Na Jou Hart”, a romantic road movie that tugs at the heart while delivering a good laugh.

Then there’s “Vir Altyd”, a touching drama about rekindling lost love, and “Liefling, Die Movie”, South Africa’s first Afrikaans musical, which had audiences singing along to its catchy tunes.

And, of course, the holiday charm of “Liewe Kersfeesvader”, a family favourite that brings festive warmth and plenty of laughs to the screen.

This year’s line-up is set to keep that tradition alive, offering cherished classics and exciting new releases.

Movie lovers can look forward to seeing festival-winning short films like “Marie se laaste dag”, “Noise & Neighbours” and “Baas se honne”, which were standout hits at the Silwerskerm Film Festival.

Documentaries such as ’n “Gids vir Louzanne”, which celebrates Paralympic star Louzanne Coetzee, and favourites like “Maak stil die geblaf” are also on the schedule, giving viewers plenty of reasons to tune in.

For those who love a bit of nostalgia, fliekNET will also feature iconic films like “Jy is my liefling”, “Die geheim van Nantes” and “Hoor my lied”, reminding us why these stories have stood the test of time.

Additionally, more recent treasures like “Hans steek die Rubicon oor”, “Dominee Tienie”, “Meerkat Maantuig” and “Barakat”, add fresh energy to the festive line-up, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

The channel’s curated offerings celebrate love, family, and the spirit of community —values that are relatable during this time of year.

∎fliekNET (DStv channel 149) will be available from Friday, December 13, to Tuesday, January 12, from 12pm to 12am daily.
