Prince Kaybee is stepping into a new chapter of his career with the release of his latest single, “Heno Babayo”, his first project under international electronic music label PLAYY. Records.
The producer said that the move is about more than a new home for his music. It is about finding partners who believe in long-term growth instead of chasing trends.
"The move to PLAYY. Records is inspired by how PLAYY. is willing to grow with the music. We live in a time where labels focus on trends and not build something to be trendy," he said.
The partnership comes after a successful run with Universal Music South Africa, where Kaybee built a catalogue of hits that helped define modern South African dance music.
Songs including “Club Controller”, “Banomoya” and “Uwrongo” earned him widespread acclaim, while collaborations with Lady Zamar, Busiswa, TNS, Shimza, Black Motion and Ami Faku cemented his place among the country's leading producers.
As Afro house continues to win fans around the world, Kaybee is focused on doing what he has always done best by creating music that connects with people.
"My role is just to be part of a moving vehicle, creating as many sonic memories as I possibly can," he said.
His latest single, “Heno Babayo”, reflects that approach. Rather than chasing chart success, the producer hopes the song becomes part of special moments in people's lives.
"Fans can expect my signature sound and a way to create memories with loved ones through this song," he said.
The release also reflects the evolution of his sound. Kaybee has previously shared that he is moving away from the guitar-driven style that first made him famous in favour of a cleaner Afro-tech sound.
He has also spoken about wanting to create music with lasting impact that brings healing and meaning to listeners.
Away from the studio, Kaybee recently showed the same determination through an intense three-day cycling challenge from Johannesburg to Durban.
Covering more than 600 kilometres while facing cold weather and strong winds, the challenge highlighted his commitment to discipline, resilience and personal growth.
Looking ahead, the producer said that fans have plenty to be excited about as ideas continue to flow in this new phase of his career.
"It's an exciting chapter, and ideas are flowing. I have a couple of exciting collaborations with amazing artists for everyone to look forward to."
