The Savanna Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards are set to bring a night of celebration and laughter.

Returning for their 12th edition, the awards will be hosted by Nina Hastie and Carvin H Goldstone, who are set to bring the house down with their witty banter and undeniable charm.

The ceremony will also feature a line-up of hilarious MCs such as Mashabela Galane, Kagiso KG Mokgadi, Céline Tshika, Mel Jones, Thabiso Mhlongo and Bexta.

Also known as the Comics' Choice Awards, this is is a unique event within the comedy industry because it is peer-voted. The comedians cast their votes to determine the winners, making the awards a true reflection of professional respect and recognition.

With a recent reduction in the total number of awards to ten, the competition has become even fiercer and winning a Comics' Choice Award is now more prestigious than ever before.

This change has elevated the significance of each award, making them a highly sought-after achievement for comedians.

The awards ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, April 12, at the Gold Reef City's Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg, aim to support emerging comedic talent by providing opportunities to elevate their careers and achieve greater success in the industry.

“Comedy is a powerful force, it challenges, entertains and connects us," Manuela Dias de Deus, the executive producer of the Savanna Comic’s Choice Awards said.

"These awards exist to honour those who make us laugh, push boundaries, and keep the local comedy scene thriving.”

She added that the organisation's goal is to gain global recognition for local comedians and increase their opportunities for performances locally and internationally. “The talent is here, and it's time to showcase it to the world!” she emphasised.
