The beloved contributor to the popular Ukhozi FM was only 35 years old when she succumbed to meningitis at Dr. Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Memorial Hospital in Durban. Her brother, Sphiwe Mthalane, provided insight into the rapid decline of his sister's health, noting that she had been struggling with a headache for approximately two weeks before her death.
"She called me, saying she’d been suffering from a headache for a week and I advised her to get medical attention, which she did," Sphiwe explained to the “Daily Sun”. "She went to the clinic and was transferred to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with meningitis. Things got worse, and unfortunately, she passed away."
He confirmed that she died shortly before noon on that tragic Sunday.
Mthalane was best known for her role on “Sigiyia Ngengoma”, a Ukhozi FM show that celebrates the rich genre of maskandi music. Through her engaging voice and captivating presence, she brought the latest updates in maskandi to her audience, fostering a deeper appreciation for the cultural roots of this genre.
