A new lawsuit has emerged, alleging that Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and Sean “Diddy” Combs sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.
The lawsuit, originally filed against Combs, was amended on Sunday, December 8, to include Jay-Z.
The accuser, identified as Jane Doe, claims the assault took place at an after-party. According to the lawsuit, the victim was dropped off at the VMAs by a friend without a ticket.
In her attempt to gain entry, she approached limousine drivers outside Radio City Music Hall. One driver allegedly said he worked for Combs and remarked that she "fit what Diddy was looking for“.
She recounted that after consuming a drink that made her feel “woozy and light-headed”, Jay-Z and Diddy entered the room.
The lawsuit alleges Carter removed her clothes and raped her while Diddy and an unnamed female celebrity watched. Diddy allegedly proceeded to assault her as well.
Adding fuel to the fire, Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, was accused of liking an Instagram post that reported on the allegations against Jay-Z. The post, published by “ABC7 Chicago”, detailed the lawsuit against the rapper and Diddy.
Knowles later addressed the matter, claiming her account was “hacked”. In a fiery Instagram post, she wrote: "As you all know, I do not play about my family. So if you see something uncharacteristic of me, just know that it is not me! Please stop playing with me!!!! 'No weapon formed against my family shall prosper.'”
The lawsuit has generated a significant amount of attention, with many local and international celebrities weighing in on social media.
