Rising star and influencer, Kairo Forbes, the daughter of the late Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and DJ Zinhle, has won the Favourite African Kidfluencer at this year’s Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.
A watch party was held at Montecasino, Fourways in Johannesburg, where Kairo was awarded her blimp, after the screening of the awards ceremony which were held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
Speaking to IOL, Kairo shared that it felt “amazing” to be following in the footsteps of her late father and that it feels “great” to be inspiring young people.
In 2019, her rapper father won the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards for Favourite SA Star, becoming the first rapper to win the award.
Kairo’s mom DJ Zinhle was also emotional over her daughter’s win sharing how they had been stressed over the results as they didnt know if Kairo would win the award or not.
The young superstar in the making, last year won the award for Social Media Kid Influencer of the Year at the South African Social Media awards.
Kairo also shared that when it comes to her social media page, she will be doing more dancing, skin care videos and make-up videos.
Kairo was supported by her glammy, Lynn, who was visibly emotional about how her late son AKA’s song was played when Kairo went onto the stage to collect her award.
South African singer Biko Star of sibling trio, Biko Manna hosted the festivities, also revealing that she is now the new NickMusic presenter, joining the Nickelodeon culture squad.
