Rapper Kendrick Lamar was recently announced as the first-ever solo headlining act for the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show which is set to take place in New Orleans on February 9, 2025.
Super Bowl fans and some celebrities such as Nicki Minaj, Birdman and Master P, were left disappointed that award-winning American rapper, Lil Wayne was not given the coveted spot seeing that the Super Bowl will be taking place in his home town.
Wayne recently admitted that not being picked to perform had left him heartbroken.
Speaking in a video shared with fans, the “Lollipop” hitmaker seemed sombre.
“Forgive me for the delay ... I had to find the strength to do this without breaking. I must say thank you to every voice, every opinion, all the care, love and support, your words turned into arms and held me up when I was falling back,” said Wayne.
He continued to share that not being given the opportunity to perform has left him “hurt” and “broken”.
“That hurt, it hurt a lot … I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a let-down and for automatically mentally putting myself in that position, like somebody told me that was my position.
“I thought there was nothing better than that spot, on that stage, on that platform ... It made me feel like sh** not being given this opportunity, and you guys reminded me that I’m sh** without you’ll and that’s an amazing reality.
“It broke me, but I'm just trying to put me back together ... I feel like I’ve let all of you down by not getting that opportunity, but I am working on me, so thank you,” he ended.

Wayne’s fans took to the comments to comfort him.
“It hurts more when he’s openly admitting it. Always will be my favourite rapper. The newer trend wave generation don’t understand how goated you are. How you influenced a whole generation.
“Changed the game. Set the bar for hip hop showing how versatile an artist can be. Always gonna be my 🐐 don’t give up on us bro,” commented @kiefer.joshua1.
