Veteran actor, Luthuli Dlamini has shut down rumours that were circulating recently on social media saying that the 58-year-old is homeless, is living in a drug den in Randburg, and broke.

The Zimbabwe-born actor has appeared on multiple popular South African television soapies such as “Generations”, “Rockville”, “Uzalo” as well as “Scandal”.

Dlamini took to his Instagram account to debunk the rumours and said that he is not homeless, he captioned his post, “I’m fine, I promise I’m not homeless. Be sure of your sources of information. Don’t compromise your integrity for 15 cheap minutes of fame. To be continued.”

In the video where he is seen washing clothes in a grey bathtub, he says, “Hi, I just want to dispel a few rumours. First of all I want to say thank you to everyone who has shown support for me, everyone who has offered me a house to live in, someone who has offered me a spare room to live in. I really appreciate that.

“I just wanted to dispel all of those concerns about me being homeless. I am not homeless, not at all!” he said.

Dlamini further clarified that he actually lives in Durban, he is happy and  has a roof over his head.

While he clarified his situation, many of his fans flooded the comments section stating that they are not convinced because the video looks like an acting scene.

Instagram user @lehlogonolo_mamatheboys wrote: “Is this real or acting?”

Another Instagram user @Mfundoooooo commented, “I hope this is a character. IF it isn’t usitshele (tell us) and we’ll work something out.”

Instagram user @mrh_samu said, “I am not an expert in film nor acting, but there is no soap/washing powder. The berr bottle handed to babu (Mr) Dlamini is empty, and so is the food container! The ‘theatrics of Othello.”

However others expressed that they are glad that he is okay and the rumours are false.

Instagram user @Simphiwe_Nkutha said, “I was so worried. Glad you are fine and I wish you well sir.”

Instagram user @fadzyfa commented, “Best way to deal with rumour mongers.”

Another Instagram user @brey.ton commented, “You proved them wrong."
