South African-based award-winning TV presenter and entrepreneur  Kim Jayde Robinson just took the South of France by storm.

Best known as Africa’s ultimate sneaker queen, Robinson turned the prestigious Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity into her personal playground, proving she is officially a global mogul in the making.

Rubbing shoulders with A-listers

During her trip to the French Riviera, Robinson has been spotted networking and rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in global entertainment, media and business.

Her star-studded encounters include award-winning American actress and TV personality, Keke Palmer, "The Diary of a CEO" podcast host, Steven Bartlett, and Jeff Staple, the iconic streetwear and footwear designer.

In an Instagram Story, Robinson shared: "I'm trying not to have a heart palpitation, I just booked a 10 minute Uber ride, for R1 000! But it is so worth it to go see Oprah (Winfrey)!"

She continued in the comments: "I met Mama O 🄹🄰😱🤯 I can retire now, guys! How do you top this?!"

Robinson wasn't just there to party - she was there to make history.

Her self-funded sneaker and fashion series, "Kickin’ It With Kim Jayde", was officially selected for the 2026 Diversity in Cannes Short Film Showcase out of 200 entries from across five continents.

The showcase is backed by Academy Award-winner Viola Davis's JuVee Productions.

Insider tips for Cannes Lions on a budget

When she isn't at festival panels or screenings, Robinson has been soaking up the Mediterranean sun and sharing her glamorous French Riviera journey with her followers.

She teamed up with Air France to share her favourite travel hacks for South Africans visiting the Riviera on a "ZAR budget" (while jokingly celebrating the region's total lack of load-shedding).

Thinking of planning your own French Riviera getaway? Here is Robinson’s playbook:

  • Stay in Antibes: Skip the overpriced Cannes hotels. Stay 15 minutes away in the gorgeous, cosy town of Antibes instead.

  • Carry cash: You’ll want loose change for morning runs to local boulangeries (bakeries) for fresh croissants.

  • Mind your manners: A simple, polite ā€œBonjour Madameā€ goes a long way with the locals!
