Rachel Kolisi may be recovering from a shoulder operation, but she has not lost the humour that her followers have come to love.

Over the past few days, the philanthropist, entrepreneur and author has been sharing candid glimpses into her post-operation recovery, balancing emotional moments with funny and relatable updates from home.

From waiting through her daughter’s “fashion show” to laughing at herself during a self-care session, Rachel’s social media posts have kept fans entertained while also reassuring those worried about her health after surgery.

In one of her latest TikTok videos, Rachel shared a sweet and hilarious moment involving her daughter Keziah.

“Sitting waiting for my daughter's fashion show to start,” she wrote.

The clip showed Rachel patiently sitting on the bed while waiting for Keziah to make her grand entrance. Nearly 30 minutes later, her daughter finally appeared wearing a printed dress paired with her mom’s high heels, a scene many girl moms immediately recognised.

“We were here for at least 30 minutes reviewing options. She didn’t get it from her mama, obviously,” Rachel joked.

In the same clip, Rachel could be seen counting on her fingers. In a matching Instagram Story, she laughingly revealed she was counting how many months it had been since her divorce from Siya Kolisi.

“I’m recovering from a shoulder op I haven’t given up on life,” she wrote.

The light-hearted post quickly resonated with followers, many of whom praised Rachel Kolisi for continuing to share honest and humorous moments during her recovery after surgery.

Rachel Kolisi later shared another funny TikTok while recovering from her shoulder surgery, this time showing herself wearing a bright blue face mask during a self-care session.

“Is cabin fever a thing? At this point even I’m feeling concerned,” she wrote.

In the caption, she added: “Tried to do a little self care today.”

The video showed Rachel bursting into laughter at her own appearance as she threw her head back dramatically. It was another reminder of the playful sense of humour that has become part of her online identity.

Even while dealing with post-op recovery, Rachel continues to share relatable content that feels refreshingly honest rather than polished.

Before the humorous updates, many followers were concerned after Rachel Kolisi first shared photos of herself in a hospital bed following her shoulder operation.

The images showed her recovering in hospital while surrounded by family and loved ones, including her children. Some fans feared the situation was more serious than it actually was.

Rachel later addressed the concern in a “proof of life” Instagram Stories video, explaining that she had purposely waited until she was off pain medication before filming.

“I thought I would do a proof of life video… and I also thought it would be best to do a video when I was off pain medication. Just to ensure nothing interesting comes out of my mouth,” she said.

She reassured followers that her recovery after surgery was going well.

“All is well,” she said. “I’m going to attempt a shower today.”

Rachel also admitted that one of the hospital pictures may have looked more dramatic than she intended.

“I’m really sorry that I put that second picture because it does look way more dramatic than what it needed to be, but I was just trying to show something sweet,” she explained.

Even in hospital, Rachel managed to keep her humour intact.

When she first posted about the surgery, she joked about her memoir “Falling Forward” while captioning the hospital photos.

“Had a few ideas for the caption of this one!” she wrote.

“Took Falling Forward a little too seriously.”

She also joked: “POV: when you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders.”

Another caption read: “Doctors said, ‘Take a load off.’ I got competitive.”

Still, she made sure to reassure supporters that there was no major reason for concern.

“On a serious note, all is well,” she added.

Rachel later reflected on how difficult the first week post-operation had been and thanked friends and family members who supported her throughout the recovery process.

“Obviously not ideal. But it is what it is,” she wrote.

“Made it through the first week post op, only because I have the most amazing people around me.”

She also expressed gratitude for every message, meal, school lift and helping hand she received while recovering from surgery.

Her shoulder operation also forced her to withdraw from the Kingsmead Book Fair.

At the same time, she continues to promote her memoir “Falling Forward”, which details several personal and professional challenges she has faced in recent years.

Rachel Kolisi’s sense of humour has also helped followers connect with her following her divorce from Siya Kolisi.

Recently, she had social media users laughing after posting a cooking video featuring an old apron that still read “Mrs Kolisi”.

Before she even started cooking, Rachel grabbed a marker and crossed out the “r”, changing the wording to “Ms Kolisi” instead.

The playful moment quickly went viral online, with many praising her ability to laugh at herself while navigating major life changes in the public eye.

Whether she is joking about cabin fever during post-operation recovery, laughing through self-care sessions or surviving her daughter’s fashion shows in high heels, Rachel Kolisi continues to show followers why her honesty and humour remain so relatable.
