The festive season may be behind us, but Oceans Mall in Umhlanga, north of Durban, will host a wrestling event of epic proportions on Saturday. The event will bring wrestlers from across South Africa, with visitors from other provinces expected to descend on Durban.
Daryl Naidu from Durban, known as Nightmare, one of the wrestlers and event organiser, said that the event will be called "Oceans Wrestle Rampage: Superstar Showdown" under the promotion, World Wrestling Alliance. “It will be a celebration of spectacular athleticism, captivating entertainment, and a high-octane display of ultimate power. As part of the World Wrestling Alliance, we promised our fans the very best, and this showdown is us keeping true to our promise.”
Naidu added that this is the first time ever that Oceans Mall would be bringing live professional wrestling to its humble abode. “We have signed only the country’s best wrestling stars, who are ready to show off their larger-than-life personalities while bringing Durbanites an exhilarating afternoon of action and adrenaline. We are taking professional wrestling in South Africa to unprecedented levels while also gaining worldwide recognition. It’s SA’s time to shine, and we are ready to present ‘Wrestle Rampage’ – where impressive wrestling moves, raw athleticism, and vibrant energy all come together in a family-friendly environment.”
Naidu said that as wrestlers, they have trained very hard. “We often have to make sacrifices and push through not just adversity, but also injuries, to ensure that we give off a memorable performance that is safe, impactful, and meaningful every time we step into the ring. To me, professional wrestling is more than just entertainment and action; it’s a reflection of resilience and passion and the celebration of the enduring human spirit.”
Naidu added that since the formation of the World Wrestling Alliance, they have hosted mega shows, especially in the Chatsworth area. “We are spreading our wings and flying high in the North Coast echelons of society. This event is set to make its mark on the city – join us in witnessing history being made.”
The event is expected to take place at 6 pm in Umhlanga, with a massive audience expected from all parts of the country.
