Johannesburg - Some businesses will be trading as usual tomorrow and Easter Sunday.
Sandton City, Bedford Centre, Eastgate and Southgate are four of the shopping centres that will be open.
A Bedford Centre manager, who asked to remain anonymous, said they do not force anyone to trade on Good Friday. ”It is optional trading, because it is a religious holiday. However, the majority of the shops tend to close, so, to avoid disappointment, customers are advised to call a particular shop they would like to visit on that day to see whether they will be open,” she advised.
For those who want to take advantage of the quiet day to do some shopping, Woolworths and select Pick n Pay stores will be open during the Easter weekend.
Pick n Pay customers can visit http://www.pnp.co.za for more information on shopping hours.
Those who would like to do nothing better than spend Good Friday enjoying the latest attraction on the big screen will be glad to know that Ster-Kinekor and Nu Metro theatres will be open for business.
Ster-Kinekor’s Janet de Kretser said not only will their theatres be open, but they intend to make the trip to their cinemas memorable for younger patrons.
For the animated film Home, which stars pop princess Rihanna, De Kretser said foyers at certain Ster-Kinekor cinemas will be transformed into a carnival of colour and activity with face painters, jugglers, bubble machines, tasty treats, prizes and much more.
For Disney’s Cinderella, some of the cinemas will be transformed into a fairyland, she said.
And if, after taking the little ones to the movies, you are too exhausted or don’t feel like cooking, Spur restaurants will be open.
Most Shoprite, Checkers and Usave supermarkets will be trading – especially in shopping centres and large business nodes.
