Durban — AmaZulu Football Club visited Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini at his Phongolo home this week to show support and pass on congratulatory blessings on his reign and also to introduce the team to him.
AmaZulu FC president Sandile Zungu presented the king with four cows and a personalised AmaZulu FC replica jersey during the visit.
The king appreciated Usuthu’s visit and revealed that there was no other team that he supported as much as these giants of KwaZulu-Natal football.
King Misuzulu said it only made sense that he supported AmaZulu since it represented the Zulu nation, the Zulu Royal Family and the throne itself.
The king, who is also a patron of the club, said he was proud of the club – which celebrates 90 years of existence this season.
“Thank you for making me a patron of the club. I appreciate the honour and it will stay that way forever. Thank you very much for the wonderful gift that you have brought for me. On behalf of myself and my family, thank you very much. I promise you that the family is behind you 100% and all the amakhosi and the whole nation is behind us 100%.”
He added that he knew that everyone was going through a difficult time at the moment because of a lot of confusion in the family as to who the king of the Zulu nation was. He thought it was clearer now who the rightful king was, “so there should be no confusion to anyone at all”.
“I’m behind you 100%. I offer myself to you and commit that I will attend all your big games, especially your home games; I’ll be there to support you 100%,” King Misuzulu said.
