Celebrate the 5th Durban Tourism Business Awards, where industry leaders and celebrities gathered to honour the best in Durban's tourism sector, showcasing the city's vibrant visitor economy.

An air of excitement, laughter, and elegance was stirred during the 5th Durban Tourism Business Awards filled the International Convention Centre (ICC) held on Thursday.
As one of the highlights on the local tourism calendar, the event brought together the crème de la crème of the industry, including some of the country’s most notable actors and celebrities, which reinforced Durban's status as a prominent tourism destination in Africa.
Held under the theme, "Sapphire Elegance: Destination Pride and a Celebration of Durban's Tourism Excellence," the 5th Durban Tourism Business Awards marked not only a celebration of achievement but also a bold reflection of Durban's tourism success story
As guests mingled at the venue, the atmosphere was filled with the effervescent sounds of music and the clinking of champagne glasses, creating a celebratory vibe that encapsulated the spirit of the night.
The awards are aimed to recognise and celebrate individuals and organisations that drove Durban’s visitor economy, and helped to shape the city’s reputation as one of Africa’s most vibrant tourism hubs.
A total of 401 entries were received this year, which was the highest number since the programme's inception, with 199 entries progressing to the adjudication stage after meeting all eligibility requirements.
Among the distinguished guests were Musa Mseleku, the well-known polygamist from the popular reality show Uthando Nesthembu.

Exceptional Achievement Award Winners
Special recognition was also awarded to businesses and individuals whose outstanding contributions, innovation, investment, and commitment to inclusivity have made a lasting impact on Durban's tourism landscape.
The recipients were as follows: * Creative Industry: DJ Tira; * Hospitality: Zai Restaurant; * Investment: Devmco Group; * Rural Investment and Township Economy Development: Indlondlo Cultural Village; * Product Owners with Disabilities: Wheels of Waves – Reece Smith
eThekwini Mayor Councillor Cyril Xaba highlighted the critical role tourism plays in driving economic development, creating employment opportunities, and attracting investment to the city.
"The Durban Tourism Business Awards celebrate the businesses and individuals whose hard work, creativity, and commitment continue to elevate Durban's tourism offering.
Their achievements not only enhance the visitor experience but also contribute meaningfully to economic growth, job creation, and the positioning of Durban as a destination of choice," said Mayor Xaba.
