In a significant move set to reshape the entertainment landscape in multiple regions, Canal+ and their established ally Warner Bros. Discovery have unveiled a new multi-year, multi-territory agreement.

This strategic collaboration marks a major milestone in their ongoing partnership, with factors spanning both the distribution of HBO Max and the renewal of various thematic channels across Europe and Africa.

The agreement builds upon notable earlier contracts finalized in France and Poland, expanding both entities' reach and reinforcing their commitment to delivering premium content.

In France, for instance, Canal+ secured the exclusive pay-TV window for films produced by Warner Bros. Pictures just six months post-theatrical release, alongside integrating HBO Max into select Canal+ offerings.

Poland's arrangement saw a similar renewal of 22 thematic channels, including popular networks like TVN 24 and Eurosport, to further enhance viewer choice.

A strengthening of presence across MultiChoice Group territories

Of particular note is the renewal of distribution agreements for 12 Warner Bros. Discovery thematic channels within MultiChoice Group territories.

This includes exclusive offerings for channels like CNN International and Cartoon Network in South Africa, with non-exclusive availability in other regions.

Additionally, territories such as Angola and Mozambique will receive exclusive access to Cartoon Network Porto.

The non-exclusive channels—encompassing Discovery Channel, TLC, and Food Network, among others—broaden Canal+'s entertainment suite, solidifying its position as a key player in the African market for entertainment, kids’ programming, news, and documentaries.

Expansion in Europe

Across Europe, the partnership is similarly being enhanced through several strategic renewals.

The renewal of key platforms such as Cartoon Network and CNN International in countries like Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia underscores Canal+'s effort to provide a diverse array of entertainment options.

Furthermore, in Poland, the renewal of HBO Max, HBO, and Cinemax solidifies an essential link to Warner Bros. Discovery’s acclaimed content, making it readily available for subscribers across these territories.

Excitingly, two new significant territories, Belgium and Austria, will also witness an expansion of HBO Max distribution through Canal+, allowing an increasing audience access to Warner Bros. Discovery's renowned catalogue of content.

This comprehensive agreement enhances Canal+ subscribers’ access to Warner Bros. Discovery's iconic offerings, encompassing timeless series and films that contribute extensively to the studio's international footprint.

As both companies enter this new chapter together, their strengthened partnership promises to deliver innovative content and expand viewing possibilities for consumers across diverse markets.
