INTERNATIONAL - Nissan yesterday revised down its operating profit outlook to ¥645billion (R80.5bn) from ¥685bn for the current financial year after the carmaker admitted some of its vehicles had been produced without proper safety inspections for decades.
The scandal prompted Japan’s second-largest carmaker to issue a recall of about 1.2million vehicles in Japan in October. Nissan maintained net profit forecast at ¥535bn and sales outlook at ¥11.8trillion for the year to March 2018.
For the July-to-September period, Nissan posted an operating profit of ¥128.5bn, down 21.6percent from the same period last year, while sales were up 8.5percent to ¥2.9trln.
