Youths from Bellville and Elsies River got the holiday vibe going with music and discipline as part of a special five-day youth programme led by the Western Cape Provincial Police Band.
The initiative held from June 30 to July 4 saw the cops team-up with Wisemen of the East to help teach local children how to play music, work together, and build confidence.
During the week-long programme, the children were taken through their paces in a music workshop, where Sergeant Wesley Jansen taught them the basics of playing in harmony.
Police spokesperson, Ashley Chandler, said the vibe was all about learning, excitement, and upliftment.
“This was the message of the three-day interaction, which ended in a progression showcase of musical talent in collaboration with the Western Cape Provincial Police Band.
"It's all in the hand-eye coordination with the complete exercise of the lungs, which definitely leads to a confidence boost.

“This has been achieved and proven when these young people took to a stage at Elsies River High School, for a performance with the support of Western Cape Provincial Police Band, under my baton.
“The performance, arranged and directed by Wisemen of the East, saw these young people outplay expectations, making many parents proud and setting the stage for endless growth and hope in the community of Elsies River.”
Chandler said the youths' performance left the band members speechless, and proved they were ambassadors of hope, leaving a musical memory in every child they touched.
